John Stinger

Biography of John Stinger


John is a well-known contemporary
impressionist born in Trenton , NJ and
a New Hope , PA Bucks County native
for many years before moving his
family to a beautiful farmette located
in Stewartsville, in Warren County,
NJ.


He has been a professional artist and
writer since 1960 selling his work to
major consumer and business
publications after graduating from the
School Of Industrial Arts in Trenton ,
NJ where he studied under painters
Ben Elliott, John Slovak and Elizabeth
Ruggles.  He spent over thirty years
in the corporate world as an
advertising  executive and creative
director for several Fortune 50
companies and a New York
advertising agency.  Always trying to
improve his work, John continued to
study for several years under the
direction of nationally known Bucks
County landscape painter Robert
Seufert. Most recently, he studied
with internationally known painter
Jeremy Lipking at the California Art
Institute in Los Angeles where he
concentrated adding the figure to his
outdoor landscapes.



Stinger specializes in Pennsylvania ,
New York , New Jersey and Vermont
landscapes, river and snow scenes
painting in oils, and sometimes in
acrylics. He has also traveled
extensively throughout the US and
Europe always looking for those
special places to paint. In addition to
his Buck County on location painting,
he often travels to the beautiful
countryside outside of Manchester ,
VT. and along the Hudson River in
New York



Professionally, John is a member of
The Mid Atlantic Plein Air Painters
Association, The New Jersey Society
of Plein Air Artists, The American
Artists Professional League, and The
Allied Artists of America. Last year,
he was interviewed by Tempo, a PBS
Channel 39 television program that
featured his association with
Lafayette College and their
Community Outreach Art Program.



John has had a number of solo, as well
as group shows throughout the
country for many years.

He had his first solo exhibition in
Bucks County at the Stover Mill
Gallery in Erwinna , PA. Thirty
paintings were on view.  The Society
of the Arts in Lehigh Valley featured
two major paintings of his during their
Designer Showcase Show at Mosser
Mansion in Brienigsville , PA.
